The title is a great beginning to the speech! Creativity is very important and exists in everyone. I agree with Ken Robinson about what he believes in creativity, "we educate students out of creativity." He made many great points and offered some wonderful stories that remind us that creativity needs to be recognized, appreciated, and salvaged. Ken's delightful personality made it easier to listen to the problems in education toady, the difficulty in accepting a creative nation, the loss of interest by adults in art and dance because of what they had been taught at an early age.
It is unfortunate that so many speakers, educators, students, and children can agree about the same topic. A topic that has not been given enough respect, the issue of creative arts in a lost battle with academics. I believe that art is as important as academics because it is a major form of expression. We can capture what we have learned in writing, which is an art. In detail we can tell you about a location or a favorite place by drawing, which is a form of speech and art. We can express how we feel and what we enjoy by acting or dance, another form of art.
Another strong point that Ken mentioned that I believe should be given more attention to is the fact that some children are not being given the chance to express or show their natural behavior due to medication. It is possible that every child that is on a medication to help control behaviors should not be on it. Like Ken said, "If given an outlet, or an alternative way of communicating, like dance lessons for an active child that likes to dance and has a hard time concentrating, it may open up doors for that child that no person would be a witness to had the adults in their surrounding chosen to drown the child's ability in medication."
