After reading the article I generated a few opinions. It was interesting to read about her article about the effects that Google, or Internet based learning has evolved and changed the way people think. The first topic of interest was her belief on how the brain is being effected by google and search engines. Before reading this I never felt as if I changed the way I learned information. I do believe that in a society where time seems to fly by, and there is always a lot of work let over at the end of the day, the Internet does change the way we learn and our behavior. Almost all of my classes have some component that includes Internet usage, most of my mail does not come to my mailbox, almost ninety percent of my correspondence is through email, and what I have learned after analyzing my behavior in relation to the Internet is that I must get my information quickly. It is easier for me to think about a topic if I read it online. It is easier for me to learn about information if I go through a search engine. It is quicker to email someone about a subject than call. It is also easier for me to think and write about a topic if I use the computer, or google docs to save it on. Having a computer available with Internet access has changed my behavior and mode of communication. I recently sent my laptop to get fixed and it has nearly shutdown my way of life! I know how ridiculous it may seem, but it is true.
Another opinion I had about having a handy search engine is that fact that anyone can easily search about a topic, or they can discover information just by typing a word into a search engine such as google. During free time, I absorb a lot of information about topics, something I heard people talking about, something I watched on television, by using google search and just typing anything into it. It's incredible!
Another opinion I had about this article is about what was written on the section about war and peace. I understand that some people may be able to briefly explain the plot, climax, and ending to a book online, and have it available for anyone to read. I believe that in this case, reading a book, it would be more beneficial to physically have it in your hands as a whole copy and enjoy it. It would be easier to form your own opinion about it and it may allow you to keep some kind of orthodox way of doing something.
