Honestly speaking I would not have taken this class had it not been a requirement, and that is because at the time I thought I knew enough about computers. Before I stepped into computer lab for this class I thought I knew everything I needed to know about computers and the programs that are offered. I never expected to learn as much as I did! I am so glad that this type of class is available and is a requirement because I learned about things that I had no idea existed. I was always so eager to begin class, because it was fun and there was always something new and interesting to learn about. The assignments were educational and enjoyable. I was shockingly surprised to learn that google offered so many programs such as google docs, and google presentation. I used google docs for everything! It is the only way I will complete an assignment. I have mentioned this before, but I just need to write about it again... at the beginning of this semester my computer crashed and I felt lost and incomplete because I thought there was no way I could work on all of my assignments on the computer at school because of my busy work schedule. After Mr. Tashbin taught us how to use google docs I was able to complete all of my assignments wherever I was. What a relief! I have since taught my brothers and other people how to use google docs.
Another part of this course that I enjoyed was watching the educational videos such as Ken Robinson, Mr. Winkle Wakes, 3.0, Randy Pausch, and Michael Wesch. In the past I never made time to watch videos or explore youtube and other sites. I am glad that I had a chance to watch such educational videos because I now know that great sites exist.
Another favorite part of this course was the blog assignments. I enjoyed watching and writing about the videos that we watched. It was wonderful discussing these in class because people have many similar and different opinions. It seems so uncommon now a days to watch a video and reflect on it as we did in EDM. I believe that courses should incorporate some technology, and the use of the Internet and all of the free extra educational sources that can be found. Overall, this class really opened my eyes to a world that I do not always have the time to explore. I am very happy with the way the course was presented and organized.
